What to do:

• using primary colors of paint (red, yellow, blue), children 'blow paint' an interesting picture.
• use secondary colors of paint (orange, green, purple)

How to do it:

• mix paint thinly and dilute with water and a little liquid detergent
• use a straw with finger over one end to trap paint inside straw
• hold straw over paper and release by removing finger from end of straw
• proceed to "blow" the bubble of paint around the paper either with or without the straw
• try different colors
• keep papers small so children do not blow too much and get dizzy

N.B. some children may try to suck the paint up the straw with their mouths - be ready to show them how to trap paint with their fingers and to give them some water to rinse with if necessary! Children enjoy the challenge of this kind of painting.
