You will need:

  • assorted shapes cut from colored paper
  • white glue or glue sticks
  • crayons to decorate
  • a background sheet of paper for each child
  •

    What to do:

  • encourage children to use the shapes to create interesting pictures
  • suggest such things as trucks, people, cars, buildings, etc.
  • you may need to give younger children a specific item to make from the shapes and to show them how to use the shapes to create different things (ie. two small circles may become the wheels of a car from a side view, a rectangle may make the body of the car, etc.)
  • allow children to play with the shapes for awhile before deciding on one thing to make and glue onto their paper
  • label work
  • clean up
