Simon
Says
You will need:
- a medium-sized
play space
What to do:
- play the game
by touching or pointing to various body parts while saying, "Simon
Says, touch your toes, elbow, knees, eyes, ears, hair, tummy, back,
etc."
- then try and
catch them out by saying, "Simon Says, touch your nose"
while you bend down and touch your toes
- wait for a
minute until it sinks in and the children realize that they followed
your actions of touching their toes instead of touching their noses!
- all have a
good giggle and then continue the game
- never exclude
anyone from the game! (they
can play it that way when they are older and better able to withstand
blows to their egos)
- the fun is
trying not to get caught doing the wrong action
- when children
become proficient, try letting one of them be the leader - they are
a bit slow at first, but they really catch on fast!
Variation:
- play the game where children are to only do
the action if Simon Says - if Simon does not say, then don’t do the
action.
