Animals 3-D Stand-up
(cereal or chip boxes)
You will need:
a front or back panel from a cereal or chip box for each child
stencils of animals
(heads and bodies and legs)
pencils or pencil crayons to trace stencils
scissors, a hole punch
crayons
yarn for tails
masking tape on wax paper
What to do:
trace the various animal body parts onto cardboard
pre-cut parts out
(older children may enjoy doing this themselves)
pre-punch a hole for the tail
have small pieces of tape on wax paper ready for children to use
encourage children to decorate their animals first
(ie. draw on facial features, colour on spots, etc.)
when animals are ready, children may like to try and cut the slits themselves so that they can then join the legs and head to the bodies
encourage children to attach the tails themselves
(let them try tying a knot)
help children to get their animals to stand up alone
label work and clean up
