You will need:
- a paper plate for each child
- assorted coloured
paper cut into 1" x 3" strips (for the mane)
for each child
- elastic thread
- stapler
- an exacto knife
- crayons
- white glue
- masking tape pre-torn in 1"
x 1’ squares on wax paper
What to do:
- pre-cut the
eye holes in each ‘mask’ for the children (adults
only please)
- re-measure and
staple on elastic thread in three places - the sides and the top of the
mask (tie a knot in each end of the elastic thread)
- tell children they are going
to be making a lion face mask
- show them how the papers around
the edge of the plate look like the lion’s mane
- encourage children to glue
or tape the strips of paper all around the lion’s face
- then encourage children to
add features to the lion, ie. a mouth, nose, whiskers, ears, etc.
- label work
- clean up
