What to do:
- encourage children
to look at pictures of animals
- discuss characteristics
in common and those that are different among the animals (ie. four legs,
two legs, short fur, feathers, beaks, toes, hooves, etc.)
- leader says, "Guess
how many legs my animal has." - children respond until one gets
it right
- "Guess
the kind of feet my animal has." - children respond until one gets
it right (hooves, webbed feet, claws, etc.)
- "Guess
the kind of body covering my animal has." - children respond until
one gets it right
- "Guess
the color of my animal." - children respond until one gets
it right
- Review answers so
far.
- "Who can
guess my animal?" Choose one child to respond. If right, they can
choose an animal and play continues until all have had a turn to choose
an animal. If children are very young, they may have difficulty forming
questions, but this is good practise. Get the child choosing the animal
to whisper their animal to you and then help the rest of the group to formulate
the questions.
You will need:
- a group of
children
- lots of pictures
of various animals
