Safety Rules:

rules for crossing the street, safe costumes, staying together, waiting to eat collected goodies until home, candles in pumpkins, makes, brightly coloured clothing, warm clothing, etc.

Costumes:

what they are going to wear, what they will be making for their costumes, favourite costumes, kinds of costumes, etc.

Traditions:

sayings used when out on Halloween night, home parties, community parties, pumpkin carvings, treats, etc.

 

 

SETTING THE MOOD

Books:

stories about Halloween, costumes, masks, poetry

Displays:

create Halloween displays like a witch riding on a broomstick, a haunted house, skeletons, bats, just not too scary! large spiders made from black construction paper and dangling from yarn over head, large pumpkins with assorted faces (i.e. scary, happy, sad, etc.)

Posters:

anything to do with costumes, and the idea of Halloween (providing they are not too scary-looking)

Videos/ Speakers:

local police to review safety rules, a clown, make-up artist, a pumpkin carver, costume parade, safety films, cartoons
