tell them that
they are going to play a game like one they already know, "Duck,
Duck, Goose!"
one child is 'it'
and holds the letter or envelope
he/she must skip
around the outside edge of the circle while the others sing,
"A-tisket, a-tasket,
a green and yellow basket,
I wrote a letter to my love and on the way I dropped it!"
at this point,
'it' must drop the letter behind one of the seated children and proceed
to run around the outer edge of the circle
the seated child
must quickly grab the letter and chase after the child who dropped it
if the child catches
up with the first child, he/she returns the letter and the first child
must continue the game
if the seated
child cannot catch up with the first child, then the first child claims
his/her seat (the open spot in the circle) and the game repeats
with the second child as before
game ends when
all children have had a turn to lose the letter
