You will need:
- a background
sheet of paper for each child (8 /12 x 11")
- a large circle
of white paper for each child (4 - 5" in diameter)
- a hat cut from
black paper for each child
- cotton balls dusted
in brown powder tempera paint for each child (1/4 tsp. powder paint
in a plastic bag, add cotton balls, shake)
- children's craft
scissors
- a small green
paper shamrock for each child
- a strip of yellow
paper for the leprechaun's hat
- crayons
- white glue
What to do:
- tell children
they are going to make a little leprechaun (show
pictures and read stories of leprechauns so they understand)
- explain that the
white circle of paper is the leprechaun's head, the black paper is his
hat, the cotton balls for his beard, the yellow strip and shamrock for
the ribbon on his hat
- children should
then be encouraged to glue the various items onto their background papers
adding features with their crayons
- some children
may wish to draw a body below the head
- label work
- clean up
