You will need:
- 1 egg carton
cup for each child
- 5 or 6 pieces
of straw for each child (each approx. 2" long)
- 5 or 6 squares
of assorted tissue paper (approx. 2" square each)
- small blob of
white glue on a tray
- 1 cotton ball
for each child
- 1 small white
paper doily for each child
- children's craft
scissors
What to do:
- tell children
they are going to make a vase of flowers for their mother or grandmother
- show them a finished
one (be careful not to have it too perfect!)
- first, glue the
egg carton cup to the doily
- next, put a blob
of white glue into the base of the vase (water for the flowers)
- take a straw,
dip it in glue on one end, place a square of tissue paper over end of
straw with glue, press paper onto end of straw, fluff out edges of tissue
paper to create a 'flower'
- plant other end
of straw into 'vase' or egg carton cup
- continue until
all flowers are planted
- carefully arrange
cotton ball around flowers and press it down into the glue in the base
of the egg carton cup
- label doily and
let dry
- clean up
