You will need:
- old pillow
cases, flour sacks from a mill, or burlap sacks
- a large play space
(preferrably outside so as to avoid injuries)
- a start and finish
line (ie. use a ribbon or an imaginary line)
What to do:
- mark out
a start line and a finish line
- encourage children
to climb into their sacks and pull them up well
- say, "On
your mark, get set, GO!"
- children in sacks
will jump with feet together holding onto sacks and will try to jump all
the way to the finish line ( don't make the finish line too far away
for younger children - sack racing is very exhausting for them!)
- try and keep the
game non-competitive by encouraging each child's effort at making it to
the finish line
- game ends when
all children have had a turn jumping or when they become tired
