You will need:
- one paper
roll for each child (ie. paper towel roll)
- one small
sized (500 ml) plastic container for each child (ie. sour
cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.)
- an exacto
or cutter knife (ADULTS ONLY PLEASE!)
- yellow and
black ‘glue paint’ and brushes set up at a paint station
- glue paint

What to do:
- carefully
pre-cut an ‘x’ into the base of the yogurt container using a cutter
knife (ADULT
ONLY PLEASE)
- tell children
that they are going to make a toy flashlight
- pass out paper
rolls and pre-cut containers
- encourage
children to push their roll into the ‘x’ on the base of their container
- while holding
the ‘flashlight’ by the roll or handle end, proceed to paint the interior
of the yogurt container with yellow glue paint
- next paint
the exterior of the container with black glue paint and let dry on
newspaper
( an hour or two)
- children could
paint or color the handle or leave it plain
- label work
- clean up
Optional Method:
- paint the exterior
of the container with a dark-colored glue paint and then use a sheet
of yellow tissue paper for the lights
- crunch tissue
paper up and stuff into end of roll inside container
- add color to
‘handle’ by coloring with crayons or paint
