You will need:
a paper grocery bag for each child
(for the body)
scissors
two tissue boxes with plastic-lined openings in the top for each child
(for feet)
tin foil to cover the boxes
crayons or water-based markers
one clean ice-cream pail for each child
(for a helmet)
What to do:
pre-cut arm holes and a neck hole in each paper bag
(see illustration)
encourage children to decorate the front and back of their ‘paper bag’ costumes
(ie. with dials, squiggles, boxes, buttons, etc.)
let children cover their tissue boxes with foil or paint them or just leave them plain
place the ice cream pail over their head like a helmet
(the metal or plastic handle becomes the chin strap)
label costumes
clean up
encourage children to walk stiff-legged and move like a robot
