You will need:

a flannel board or piece of flannel stretched over a piece of cardboard or over a large book
figures of boys and girls cut from felt
sets of clothing for each figure (ie. snowsuit, mitts, toque, scarf, boots, raincoat, umbrella, galoshes, rain hat, light jacket, pants, shoes, etc.)
a sun, a rain cloud, a white cloud, the wind, snow flakes, etc.

N.B. A lot depends on where you live and what your typical spring is like - perhaps you have a large variety of weather and perhaps not.

What to do:

encourage children to observe the weather outdoors

let one child suggest appropriate clothing for the day

let other children dress the figures accordingly

take turns

leave flannel board set up as a centre for 2 or 3 children to play with at a time

make a game of mix ‘n’ match - put the wrong clothes together and let the children sort them out s fast as they can

use the figures to create a story of something they did or might like to do according to the weather they are dressed for

create other felt figures ie. dogs, cats, tress, houses, etc.

encourage children to use their imaginations!
