musical story chart Recipe
Link
- various musical
instruments Recipe
Link
- a tape recorder
and a blank cassette tape
What to do:
- pass out musical
instruments and allow time to experiment
- if time permits,
encourage individual children to demonstrate their particular instrument
for the rest of the group
- have all children
place their musical instruments on the floor in front of them and
instruct them not to touch them for a few minutes
- then show
story chart and tell the story of the pictures
- discuss the
story on the chart and ask the children which musical instrument they
think best sounds like that particular part of the story chart (you
may have to help them a little ie. cymbals for lightning and drums
for thunder; sticks for walking; bells for birds; elastic bands for
swaying bullrushes; comb and stick for a frog; hum-a-zoo for a duck;
clacking tongues for raindrops - go faster and slower
as storm subsides)
- go through
the chart with group letting each instrument be their part of the
chart - practise several times until proficient
- perform story
chart and tape - rewind and let children listen to their performance
- repeat exchanging instruments
