green leaves, colored flowers, ripening fruit, seeds, insects, birds and new fledglings, food changes in diet, (ie. watermelon, popsicles, lemonade, garden carrots, lettuce, fresh peas, raspberries strawberries, etc.) |

camping, barbecues, going to the lake, boating, roasting marshmallows and hot dogs on a campfire, visiting friends and relatives, travelling in various ways, seeing new places |

Displays: |
make a large sun, put up pictures of being at the seaside, make a shell display, set up a display of flowering plants, make a display of things to play with out of doors, include a bottle of sunscreen as a reminder! Encourage children to draw outrageous sun hats and display them on the wall! |
Posters: |
any posters of animals, birds, lakes in summer, rivers in summer, mountains in summer, swimming, boating, etc. |
Videos/ Speakers/ Trips: |
a nurse to discuss the importance of wearing a hat, using sunscreen drinking lots, etc. a meteorologist to tell about different cloud patterns and weather changes; take a trip to a lake, a zoo, or other summer attraction; any videos showing summer themes ie.. boating, camping, etc. |
