You will need:
- one long
cardboard tube for each child (the
kind Christmas wrapping paper comes on)
- a nerf ball
or other soft ball
- masking tape
- waterbased
marker pens
- wax paper
What to do:
- place 3 or
4, five inch strips of masking tape on sheets of wax paper for each
child
- pass out
cardboard tubes to each child
- tell them
that they are going to be making a hockey stick
- get them
to bend one end of their roll in a 'foot'
- then use
their masking tape to make the foot stay bent by wrapping the tape
around and around the bend (like a bandage)
- encourage
children to decorate their hockey sticks so they will know which one
is theirs
- when all
are finished, a mock 'hockey' game could ensue using a nerf ball or
other soft indoor ball

Special Note:
- be ready with
extra masking tape for repair jobs on 'broken sticks'
